Born in Yozgat in 1975, Başak Genç Yüksel graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences of the Ankara University in 1997 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye the same year.

Abroad, she served at the Turkish Embassies in Islamabad, Bratislava and Moscow, also Permanent Delegation of Türkiye to the EU. Her professional career includes service at the Ministry’s Directorate General for Security, EU, Policy Planning, Central and Northern Europe and Office of the Special Advisor to Deputy Foreign Minister.

After working as Deputy Director General at the Directorate General for Strategy Development (2022-2025) Başak Genç Yüksel was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Mongolia.
